The key to building a result-driven mindset

10 principles of Hostinger: The key to building a result-driven mindset

You can often hear that the important thing is not to win but to participate. The most important thing is neither winning nor participating – it is giving your best to go the extra mile. Satisfaction brought by achievement takes your motivation to the next level and opens new possibilities for growth and success. That’s why, at Hostinger, everyone is always ready to deliver results.

Making the impact

Having a background in journalism, where I would not always feel the impact of my efforts, an opportunity to work at Hostinger was like a breath of fresh air to me. It marked a new chapter of my professional career and immediately made clear what I’ve been feeling all along – that achieving results is a powerful driving force that unlocks new layers of your potential.

I started as part of the marketing team in Brazil and quickly noticed that I could have a very real impact on the whole company. This motivated me a lot, empowered me to deliver results, and opened new opportunities. Starting as a copywriter to the newly formed affiliate marketing team in Brazil, I was promoted to the Brazil country marketing manager. With each step, the feeling that I can positively impact the company increased; today, I am a firm believer in the benefits of being in a position to deliver the best results.

As the Brazil country manager, I could again make an impact when we created our promotional date at Hostinger for Brazil – Consumers Month (during March). This sale is a part of the Brazilian calendar, and we wanted to be included in this as well. I took the lead and convinced the international team that we’d only need some small changes in our communication and a good discount to make it happen, and, in the end, it was a success. The results of this initiative led everyone to start believing that. In the next two consumer months, we could do it much better with more people dedicated, and we’ve been successful in this sale since then.

At Hostinger, you are encouraged and expected to perform to your best ability, constantly taking a step or, for that matter, a leap forward, and a result-oriented mindset develops quite naturally. It is supported not only by the company’s culture but also by the tools that we deploy. One of them is definitely the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) that help everyone to stay on course. To deliver results, you must clearly see goals, keep track of progress, and prioritize accordingly. OKRs help to do exactly that and to foster the right work ethics.

No less important is the culture of radical transparency. It sets the conditions for deeper engagement with the company matters, enabling everyone to participate. You can always participate in other teams’ meetings and track the results they have achieved. It empowers people to act and thus to deliver results. You’re not restricted to your specific position and are more than welcome to show initiative, offer ideas, and propose improvements.

Go for it if you can

Other of our principles also support delivering results. For example, bias toward action or customer obsession facilitates behavior necessary to deliver results. During my seven years in the organization, there were plenty of opportunities to see how these principles align.

Let’s take one recent example – we were trying to pursue a partnership with an influential course creator, but he was working with our competitors. Just before last Black Friday, the website went down. We saw the opportunity and took action. We agreed that if we had his website up and running on our servers in one day, he would start promoting us. One day is an unusual term for our Customer Success team, but we convinced them that it is worth trying to do.

We were successful, saved the person’s Black Friday, and gained a new partner who introduced us to many other influencers.

Finding time to celebrate

An important part of the results-oriented culture is recognizing and celebrating achievements. It is a positive affirmation of people’s efforts that helps to reinforce a results-driven mindset and motivates them to achieve even greater success while also allowing better connections to the organization. Even a simple mention on communication channels or sharing feedback can lift a person’s spirit and be a pleasant form of recognition.

The great tradition is Hostinger’s Summerfest, which I was lucky enough to participate in last year. Not only it is the occasion to celebrate each other’s achievements, but simply the invitation to it adds a little bit more motivation to deliver results. For remote people, an opportunity to travel to distant Lithuania to celebrate and meet in person the colleagues we work with daily is extraordinary.

With the right approach, everyone wins

Contributing to the company’s success and delivering results gives you a good feeling that extends beyond work-related activities. It motivates me to achieve more in other spheres of life as well, such as playing beach tennis or going to the gym. Motivation and achievements build upon themselves, so nurturing a results-oriented mindset sets you up for more success.

As for the company, having highly motivated employees who can deliver results helps to build the capacity and culture required to achieve ambitious goals. It is also about trust – knowing that your colleague will be able to find the best solution and achieve agreed-upon goals gives everyone confidence and enhances their abilities. All this translates to our client’s success as well – if the team of highly motivated professionals able to deliver the best results is taking care of your online presence, you will no doubt get greater value.

What’s unique about Hostinger is that most people in our organization do not need to be convinced of the necessity and power of delivering the highest quality in a timely fashion. So, I wish everyone to keep it that way, and we will continue thriving.
